A cherished tradition returned once again this season, as Winter Wonderland—Clearwater’s iconic holiday village—marked its 31st year of bringing joy, generosity, and community spirit to families across Pinellas County.

What started as a modest initiative three decades ago has now grown into a full-scale holiday experience that transforms an empty grassy lot into a festive wonderland for all to enjoy. Organized by the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) and sponsored by the Church of Scientology, Winter Wonderland is a free, family-friendly event that has become a beacon of hope and happiness for many in the area.

“It’s free admission, and we take an empty park—it’s nothing but grass—and we build an entire village here for the community to come enjoy,” said Pam Ryan Anderson, Executive Director of CCV. From the moment guests walk through the gates, they’re met with twinkling lights, the sound of holiday music, and the smell of fresh cookies ready to be decorated with Mrs. Claus.

But Winter Wonderland is more than just lights and entertainment. The event also serves a deeper purpose—raising food and toy donations for the Pinellas County Police Athletic League (PAL) in Lealman, ensuring that no child goes without during the holidays. Families can enjoy the magic while giving back to those in need, making the event both meaningful and memorable.

Visitors can meet Santa Claus, enjoy train rides, visit the petting zoo, spin on the carousel, and even play in real snow—a rare treat in Florida. It’s a place where kids can safely play, and parents can sit back and enjoy the festivities, live entertainment, and warm holiday atmosphere.

“There’s nothing else like this around,” added Anderson. “It’s a place for families to come. Their children are safe. They can play. They can sit and watch the entertainment. It’s just a really enjoyable and affordable family activity.”

Winter Wonderland will remain open through the holidays. For more information about dates, times, and how to support the cause, visit www.CCVFL.org.
