Nourish to Flourish

Watch this powerful video that shines a light on a heartbreaking reality—thousands of children in Pinellas County go to bed hungry every night.

In 2011, the Clearwater Community Volunteers proudly partnered with 6th Judicial Circuit Public Defender Bob Dillinger to support his “Nourish to Flourish” initiative. This vital program focuses on helping chronically hungry children in our own community—children who rely on free or reduced-price school lunches, but who often have no food at home during the weekends.

According to recent estimates, over 4,000 children in Pinellas County suffer from chronic hunger. “Nourish to Flourish” steps in to bridge this weekend food gap by sending home food trays with children every Friday. Each tray costs just $3.10, and with an annual donation of only $156, one child is guaranteed a meal every weekend throughout the school year.

“This year we are proudly celebrating 10 years of giving back to our community,” said Pam Ryan Anderson, Chairperson of the CCV. “The hunger problem is happening right in our backyard, and we are determined to make a difference.”

We were honored to receive a heartfelt letter of appreciation from Mr. Dillinger, acknowledging CCV’s contribution to this crucial cause.

Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of children who need it most.

A letter of grateful acknowledgment was received from Bob Dillinger:
